Fun, Fantastic Fall 2011

I can't believe my last post was TWO months ago...well, the video kind of sums up the Fall Season...but it leaves out one very important part...our lives in sports...you get to see Miss Kate playing softball, but you don't get to see Connor playing on either of his two baseball teams that played FOUR games a weekend, and you don't get to see Jake playing on his baseball, soccer, OR basketball teams...yes, you heard me right. AND...you don't see Kate dancing (twice a week)...so maybe I have an excuse for not blogging?!?! Hopefully my lovely three readers have figured out that the easiest way to see what the Wills are up to is to become my friend on Facebook...it is much easier to post to that from my phone...and Lord knows I always my phone with me!

End of Summer...

Our August started off with Jake meeting his nephew, Evan!! If you remember, when we went to Chattanooga in June, Jake's team was in the championship of a tournament, so he stayed behind...it was a hard decision for him, and he was counting down the days until he got to hold his new buddy! Look at that smile!

We got to spend five whole days with Robert, Kim and Evan in early August...they came for a very special wedding!!

Evan met "Chippy" for the first time...

My teammate and friend, Jill, gave Robert and Kim this adorable owl costume!

It's safe to say, that none of us could get enough of this little love....

Our family was honored to be a part of Wes and Mandy's special day, August 7th, 2011.

And as all our visits must, this one came to an end...after a yummy dinner out at the "Black Hog" in Urbana...we all had delicious barbeque...except Evan...he stuck with formula! We hope to reunite with our southern family at Christmas time this year!!

We made our annual trip to Rehoboth with Granny and Pop, Auntie and Francis, the second week of August. My Aunt Cora moved to Rehoboth in July, so we got to spend a lot of time with her, too! We had BEAUTIFUL weather while we were there!!

It is very hard to see this picture, but it is all four kids, Auntie, and Aunt Cora in the ocean...Aunt Cora even boogie boarded with the kids!!

This is Aunt Cora after she lost a battle with a big wave!!

My Aunt Sandi was with us for a few days, too!

{This picture is right after Aunt Cora's big wave!!}

Pop Pop!

The trip wouldn't be complete without at least one trip to Funland!!

When the weekend hit, Bob joined us! He had a new hairdo to show off...and for those of you that knew Bob, Sr...is the resemblence freaking you out?!?!!?

We continued to have amazing weather...

We had tons of rain on our last day in Rehoboth...and as only Kate can...she sang and danced for a long time in that rain!!

Once home, the kids just wanted to hang with friends and enjoy the last few lazy days of summer...

Just this past Friday night, the annual NFL Fantasy Football draft took place at our house...ten teams...all determined to have the best team ever!! These boys make me laugh...it was a lot of fun!!

And...for the first time in EIGHT years, there was no Labor Day kickball game...both boys played in the ESSEX LABOR DAY baseball tournament. Jake played U12 and his team went 1 and 2. Connor played U14...they played in the semi finals today and lost in the bottom of the ELEVENTH inning...5-4...it was a fantastic game. I get so into the games I forget to take pictures...I took two. The first one just made me laugh...not enough chairs, so they made it work while watching Jake play...

Connor and Jake are each other's greatest fans...this was rally cap time...somewhere around the eighth or ninth inning...

'til next time...

First Day of School

OK...first of all...to my three readers...hi and thanks for checking in!

Today was the first day of school and I'm happy to announce all three kids had great days!

Scroll down to see more...

Connor Edward began HIGH SCHOOL today...9th grade, 14 years old....

Jake Carey began MIDDLE SCHOOL today...6th grade, 11 years old...

Kate Anastasi started 2nd grade today...she will be EIGHT in November...

And so I must reflect and ask...what happened to that sweet one year old boy that always had a hat on...the one that said, "bop" if you told him to say, "please"! Now he's in high school?!?!

And where is the little man that would run down streets faster than a speeding bullet, headed for nowhere, and draw all over himself with pride? The one that would climb anything possible...he started MIDDLE SCHOOL today?

And who is the sweet girl in braids on my doorstep? Is she the same daughter that called water "wong" and connor "cong"? The same little girl who was just learning to walk yesterday? She's in SECOND grade?

How did this happen? Is it that my kids don't like to listen to me? I've asked them since the beginning to please stop growing up...but they defy me over and over again...

I know they're mine...but they are such amazing kids...they are kind, funny, athletic, smart, and compassionate...and I'm so blessed to be their mom.

Scroll down a few to see a really handsome dude....

and so...as I reflect on how fast time is flying, I remind myself that we are having a ton of fun, and that must be why time is passing by so fast...

but it's really hard not to think back and feel nostalgic...

...and the kids aren't the only ones who have changed...
just another reminder that change is good...

I will hopefully will be uploading pictures from "Camp Granny and Pop" soon!!

kicking, heading, jumping...we do it all....

I can't take credit for most of these photos...two friends, both of whom are great photographers, took these pictures and sent them to me...if you read the previous post about my visit to Urgent Care and those miracle muscle relaxers...there's a pretty big clue in these pictures as to what happened...I guess my mind is a lot younger than my body...;-)
