I have this fear...

Well, my goodness...so many things could follow that statement! But this moment's fear is that there is some loyal, crazy reader who clicks on this site every so often and is utterly disappointed there aren't any updates...the truth?

I am way over my head as a Mommy...I have three (at home) amazing kids who are busy, a husband who is busy, a job that keeps me busy, and I am having trouble keeping my head above water...SOOOOOOO...we're fine...not a lot to report...sports coming along, work coming along, dance coming along, Halloween just coming, Kate's birthday coming, heck, Thanksgiving is coming...

Do you remember that poem?!?!

Thanksgiving's coming,
The turkey's getting fat,
Won't you please put a penny in the old man's hat.
If you haven't got a penny,
A ha' penny will do.
If you haven't got a ha' penny,
God Bless You.

OK...first of all...what the heck is a ha' penny...I mean I know it's a half penny, but were there such coins?!

Secondly...I never liked that version...why does the old MAN get the money?!?! :-)

Here's my remake of that old poem/song...

Thanksgiving's coming,
I'm gettting fat,
Won't you please just give me your hat.
If you haven't got a hat,
Your wallet will do,
If you haven't got a wallet,
Join the club.

Thought that was more appropriate for the economy...what do you think? Hopefully after this weekend I'll have some pictures to share...have a great weekend!

Time is flying...tons of ball games...and a special birthday...

I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last post...between the flu and Connor getting a secondary infection...he's missed a lot of school and we've all lost some sleep...but all that being said...I'M BAAACK...

By Saturday at 2pm I was attending the fourth game of the day...Kate had soccer at 8:30...I missed that because Jake's soccer game was an hour away and we had to leave at 9am...left his game at half time to take Connor to his 12 o'clock soccer game back closer to home...and when that was over we flew over to Jake's 12:15 baseball game...are you dizzy yet?! I was...but what great games I got to see! I didn't get to see Kate, but heard she was "awesome...and scored a lot of goals!" :-) Jake was one of the captains at his soccer game and he called the coin toss...he called tails...it landed tails! They started with the ball and dominated most of the game...however, it ended in a tie. One of Jake's corner kicks hit the upright and bounced out...it was an amazing kick! Connor's game also ended in a tie...and they, too, should have won that game...they were in control of the play over 80% of the time, but during the other team's 20% ball control, they scored two goals! Connor played defense and is one of the smartest players I know...he always puts the ball at his teammates' feet...he has the "whole picture" in his head while he plays...(I know I'm biased, but it's true!) He handled most of the throw-ins as a defender and he can really throw far!

We also had baseball this weekend...Jake played Saturday and they lost, but it was an awesome game...Jake hit a double and pitched really well. He played against his best buddy, Jacob, and they had to pitch to each other...it was fun to watch...they walked each other :-)! And Connor played baseball today...he pitched three innings and gave up one run and only two hits. I felt very lucky to have seen it live...it was awesome! They won 10-4!

Someone special turned FORTY-SEVEN yesterday (obviously it's not me because I wouldn't publicize the age!!) Yes, Bob's birthday was yesterday and we celebrated last night...a cookout, family, friends, Pat's famous banana cake, watching college football, and playing cards...all Bob's favorites! It was a great night! He left EARLY this am for Park City, Utah. He will be gone until Friday and we all miss him already.

Hope you have a wonderful week...I promise to have more pictures next time...

"the flu", playing sports in beautiful weather, and a visit from one of my dearest friends...

Well...it would have been a miracle had we gotten out of the flu season without getting it...Connor Wills tested positive for "Influenza A"...he hunkered down on the couch this weekend...totally bummed about missing his games.

Kate, on the other hand, scored "like 4 goals, Mom" at her game this morning!
I'm pretty sure when you stick your tongue out you score goals better! :-)

Jake Wills played baseball at noon... and soccer at 2pm...

I asked him yesterday which sport he liked better...
"I don't know, Mom, I love them both!"
We definitely love watching him play both.

He had a HUGE fan club at his soccer game!
It was a BEAUTIFUL day!

A highlight of our weekend was spending time with one of my best friends from elementary school...Kenneth was visiting from L.A. He came to all the games, and then back to the house for college football and a yummy dinner prepared by Bob (of course.) We can always just pick up where we left off...I only wish we weren't on two separate coasts! My kids get just as excited to see him as I do...Kate was sure he was there to only play with her!

Overall it was a good weekend...with the exception of Connor feeling so crummy, of course! Here's to a speedy recovery for Connor, and fingers crossed that it stops with him!

Happy Labor Day!

We had such a wonderful weekend...full of family, friends, and fun! Words are not needed...just pictures and captions...hope yours was as good as ours!!

S'mores with the Mooney's...
...and a backyard fire pit...who could ask for more?!

Every good Labor Day kickball game needs...
strong kickers,

nose pickers, guys who are funny, weather that's not too sunny, talented pitchers, tots craving pitchers, talent in the outfield, grandparents in the infield, kickball "wanna be's",
awesome referees,

siblings running bases,

"southern rally cap" faces,

runners in a pinch,

potties in a cinch!

Thanks to all of the 5th Annual Labor Day Kickball Game participants!!
Oh yeah, wanna know who won?.....

Let's just say...
Parents RULE, kids DROOL.

It's my blog and I tell it like I wanna.
Can't wait 'til next year!

I'm so behind...

School is in session now...so blogging will be minimal...but I really want to keep up with it...so I need to back track a little...

Do you remember hearing about Camp Granny and Pop?
The Monday through Thursday before the kids went back to school, I had to work and my Mom and Dad had my three kids and my nephew! They put together a BROCHURE for their camp that included daily plans and maps of some of their destinations!
They went to the Montgomery County Fair...

to the orthodontist (no pictures of that one!)...

to the National Zoo (where the baby gorilla was the highlight)...

Did I mention the wild monkeys?!?!

And then of course, G and P took them to a few other hot spots...Burton's (the baseball card shop), Footlights (a tap shoes store), TARGET...you get the picture, pretty much wherever their grandkids wanted/needed to go...and to top it all off...the kids got to spend one night at G and P's house. It was a great week...fun had by all.

Once Friday hit, it was time for Urbana's Open House...the kids got to meet their teachers and eat ice cream with their friends...and now we're seven days into school and it feels like we've been back in it for awhile!

Don't know how often I"ll get to blog...but we have a new soccer season starting for all three kids and fall baseball for the boys and dance for miss kate and religious ed for all of us...never a dull moment in the Wills house...

Till next time...
